Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to practise with Candle Arena, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification, or settings that reduce motion or change colours. This page says what we have done, what does not work well yet, and how to reach us. Write to accessibility@candlearena.app with any problem.

The standard we follow

We build Candle Arena to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. That covers Israeli Standard 5568, which Israel's Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 2013, require of websites, and the European standard EN 301 549. Most of the app meets it; the parts that do not yet are listed below, so the app partly meets the standard.

What we have done

  • Keyboard: every screen works without a mouse, including building, reviewing and placing a trade: every price can be typed, and the arrow keys move the chart and zoom it once it has focus. A “Skip to main content” link is the first thing on every page, and the element that has focus is always clearly outlined.
  • Screen readers: pages use headings, landmarks and labelled buttons and form fields. Changes during a round, such as a trade opening or closing and its result, are announced. The chart has a written summary of what it shows.
  • Colour and contrast: text and controls meet the contrast the standard asks for, in both the light and dark themes. A gain or a loss is always shown with a sign or a word, never by colour alone, and Colour-safe candles in Settings swaps green and red for blue and orange.
  • Motion: Reduce motion in Settings stops candles growing, the chart gliding and text typing itself out, and your device's own reduce-motion setting is followed too. Moving pictures on the home, sign-up and sign-in pages can be paused.
  • Size and shape: text can be enlarged to 200% with the browser's zoom, and the app works on a narrow phone screen. On a phone held sideways the app suggests turning it upright, and lets you carry on either way, though the sideways layout is cramped.
  • Time: nothing in a round is timed against you. You decide when to place a trade. After that the hidden candles play out for a few seconds: Fast-forward shortens it, Reveal speed in Settings makes it fast every time, and Watch again plays it back.

What does not work well yet

  • Reading the candles themselves is visual. The game is about reading the shapes of a price chart. A screen reader hears a summary of the chart (its prices, high, low and latest close), but not every candle's shape the way a sighted player sees it, and the price under the pointer is shown only for a mouse. Up and down candles differ by colour, as on every trading chart; Colour-safe candles changes the colours, and every figure outside the chart has a sign and words.
  • Drawing on the chart (lines and shapes for your own notes), dragging an order line, and stretching the price scale need a mouse or touch. None is needed to play: every price can be typed instead. In the app walkthrough, the one step that asks for a drawing can be skipped from the keyboard.
  • Lesson charts are pictures. The charts in Learn are drawn, not read out; each lesson's steps and question are also given in full as text, and the narration names the prices that matter.
  • The reveal cannot be paused. Once a trade is placed, the hidden candles play out for a few seconds and a screen reader hears when it starts and the result, not each moment in between.
  • Pages run by others. The Pro payment page is run by Freemius, and Sign in with Google by Google. We do not control how accessible they are; signing up with an email address works without Google.
  • English only. The app and its lessons are in English.

If any of these stops you doing something, write to us and we will help another way.

Tell us about a problem

If something is hard or impossible to use, or you need it in another form, write to accessibility@candlearena.app. It helps to say which page, what you were trying to do, and the browser and any assistive technology you use. We answer within 5 working days. The person responsible for accessibility is Yaniv Bitton.

Candle Arena is run by Yaniv Bitton, a licensed dealer (osek murshe) in Holon, Israel. Candle Arena is an online service only; it has no office or shop that the public visits.

Keeping it accurate

We check new screens against the standard before they ship, and review this page whenever the app changes in a way that touches it. It was last reviewed on 1 October 2026. The other rules are in the terms and the privacy policy.
